I grew up in a tattoo studio and was always exposed to heavy body modification, especially tattoo and piercing. I officially started my piercing career in 2010 under Mike Braley in Insane Inks where he pierced my tongue and started officially in body modification under William “Danger” Robinson at Inktoxicated where he brought me on as an additional piercer in 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n

My love for this industry began when I saw my first tongue split at a young age and was fascinated because realizing that one can modify one’s body this way was super intriguing and led me to go down the rabbit home of learning tribal modifications of the world. One of my biggest obstacles was definitely moving across the country from Nevada to Ohio, where I currently reside, because of the different demographic and having to start over.     For Ivan, the alternative, gothic, and metalhead style has been a part of his identity starting from his teenage years and it continues to shape to this very day. Friends and family often tell him that his personality and aesthetic was a perfect match to him pursuing this career path but it didn’t click until he started working at a tattoo studio. That’s when I knew. “yeah, this is it.”<\/p>\n

    This hasn’t been a smooth ride, imposter syndrome has played a part and it’s been a struggle. Ivan expressed he worked in a place that just wanted to rush piercings for cash, which totally went against what he believed in. Quality and looking after people is what matters the most to him.<\/p>\n

    Looking ahead, it’s all about learning and growing. “I want to make a living doing what I love-piercing. Maybe tattoos later, but right now, this is my passion.” And the best part is “seeing someone light up when they love their piercing.”<\/p>\n

    The funny and ironic thing is Ivan is actually terrified of needles, when it come to blood draws.<\/p>\n

    Hi, My name is Leanne Thompson Hill and I am the co owner of Tantrix Body Art and Cataclysm Tattoo and Piercing Studio. I have been piercing since the early 90\u2019s, and it has been a journey (the I should write a novel kind) of not only being a body piercer but as a studio owner.\u00a0 I am from the era where we cut and polished our own needles and the jewellery sales person would visit our studio with their selection twice a year. There was maybe 3 companies we purchased from at that time, and the quality was all the same (questionable)<\/p>\n

    I always liked piercing, but I fell in love with piercing when I started to work with my work Bestie Cassandra Young. I have never worked with someone so in sync with my values, goals and love of piercing then her. She has been the longest employee of Tantrix and has always had my back no matter what.<\/p>\n

    In 2017 we decided to become an APP studio and started to switch from not compliant jewellery, it took a few years but we slowly introduced our customers to quality and they loved it. When we moved to our new location we also had been APP compliant in our work space so that was our next hurdle. Then Covid hit and that put things on hiatus but we came back even better and attended our first conference in 2022. We increased our jewellery sales to the point where we did not need tattooing at the studio and could be a piercing only studio (maybe in the future)<\/p>\n

    Fun facts: I have two Pet pigs – Brutus and Penny, approximately 70 chickens, 3 pet turkeys, 3 dogs and to many bunnies (you can figure out why).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
